Later this month, our editors will be naming a current or past Jefferson resident as "Jeffersonian of the Year" for 2008. Do any of you have any input or suggestions? Use any criteria you like.
Thanks for the input once again, Rich. Rick Morain has left no stone unturned in his ever-vigilant efforts to maintain the local newspaper the way it was handed off to him.
It turns out that currently on ebay there are a few old issues of the Jefferson Herald from before 1920. They are virtually identical to current issues. People don't even leave their facebook that stagnant.
This is in no way meant as a strike against Rick when we vote on this award. Rather, it is a sort of microcosm of Jefferson as a whole. It is quite representative of what we go up against every day here at JIN.
For all those folks out there rooting for 1950 to somehow reappear and refocus society, Rick Morain remains a popular choice.
Actually, Rick, I was on vacation. Remember you wrote it in on your calendar last August. Anyway, I nominate Dave Redfern as Jeffersonian of the decade. Through thick and thin , through Democrat and Republican, through fog, snow, sleet, or driving rain, we all came there to drink after hearing Rick Morain play the piano. Hats off, Redfern!!!
I'd like to withdraw my nomination of anonymi and nominate Ray Dillard. I've written a Haiku in honor of the occasion: Ray Dillard did teach, Literature and spelling, He's nominated!
It's about time that someone brought up the batch of gays and lesbians that live here in Jefferson. I see it all the time. There they are, walking around. You can't help staring at them. They all run the Casey's stores and you're scared to ask them for anything because of their prison tattoos and really bad attitudes. The only thing I'd ask them for would be help in stealing my car back.

I nominate Rick Morain.
This award could be a springboard to the Bell Tower Hall of Fame.
How about giving Jack Oatts a posthumous award?

Sarcasm is so difficult to express on the internet.

I would vote for Dave Redfern, also, since I met my husband there.
As far as I can tell you guys/gals lack pretty much any sort of imagination. Here are the people that should be nominated:
Jordan M. Anderson
Greg W. Hackler
Shawn M. Lyons
Shelly A. Mauch
Richard M. Ralston
Alan B. Rettig
Rather than name animal abusers as award winners, I retract my nomination for Rick Morain amd nominate Anonymous.
There has to be at least one deserving out of the bunch (and all of them will be proud to have won).
How about Shawn Pavlik – the Jefferson Adult Spelling Bee Champion in 2008? He should be a hero to all the “registered” posters here.
You have attacked so many over spelling errors that guess what...nobody posts here anymore. Good job everyone.
Vote Shawn Pavlik everyone.

He's nominated!
So you’re an adult male writing poetry to a gay seventh grade teacher from your distant past? I guess that about sums up this blog.
Shawn Pavlik, it is!

Like I said before, I think all you guys are gay. Verin, somehow could I get your private email?
That's alright but you know it will cost you.
Is Verin talking about gays or convicts?
There seems to be a movement underway toward the selection of Cliff Said. Any comment?
Cliff does have that positive thinking going for him. Greene County should use some of that.
It would be a vote for L.Ron Hubbard.
Monte Larson, Greene County's only certified vampire hunter, has also been mentioned in the mix.
The 1950's were good times. Think Louie's Malt Shop!
My vote is for Rick Morain.
