An American Icon

I have been notified by my news sources of the death of Larry LaPrise, the man that wrote "The Hokey Pokey", at the age of 93. Our sympathies to his loved ones at his nearly unnoticed passing.
The worst part was placing him in his casket. They put his left leg in and then the trouble started.

The Perry high school web site is currently available in both English and Spanish. How long do you think it will be before Jefferson's population gets an injection of Hispanic culture?

We have a new link on our main web page featuring much older photos of the Greene County area. Any comments about these? We find them interesting, and I'm wondering if anybody out there has access to other photos from those older times.

Local Shopping

To what do you attribute the amazing lack of businesses in Jefferson? It seems that there is virtually no competition - just one of each kind of store. 30 years ago this was certainly not the case, as there were four hardware stores, five grocery stores, and multiple clothing and furniture stores. All this, yet the population remains roughly the same?

What Pays The Bills?

I've been watching and talking to everyone on this site for awhile and have been thinking that not everyone is just paid a salary to contribute like I do. I'm just wondering what the rest of our regular posters do for a living and how they're getting by in these days.
