You are a resident of Jefferson and your wealthy, distant relatives from Boston will be passing through and staying for the weekend. Where will you take them for food and entertainment?
Look where your comment was posted, Rich. I think Rick is subliminally suggesting we go to the "Pizza Ranch". I think we should expect more from our moderator than a cheap sellout like that.
The only possible hope you would have for entertaining guests like that would be to simply hope that family and home-cooked meals would be satisfactory.
The nearest acceptable restaurant would probably be in Carroll - 25 minutes or so away. Really quality entertainment could only be found near ISU (45 minute drive) or Des Moines (1 hour+).
Nothing against Jefferson - it is just located in the middle of nowhere.
I know not everyone's family is the same, but when mine come to visit they are coming to see us and not really expecting that we will "entertain" them in Jefferson. Yes, we would have to take a little drive to find a first-class restaurant. But unless wealthy equals snobs automatically, I would think the visitors would be happy to make do with our humble offerings for a few days. If they are looking for fun and excitement, I doubt they would plan a vacation to Jefferson, Iowa!!!!

You could go to Ames or Everybody's Cousin's house for Rocky Mountain Oysters.
You'll have to scroll through the Hispanic Invasion thread if you don't get the rmo comment. It was Anon's idea.

Every time I eat at the Pizza Ranch I feel like I should get a haircut.

Hey, look at the bright side, we should be getting at least one Mexican place!
We have a MExican restaurant - Casa de Oro opened this summer. It is where the Bee Hive used to be.....

Laura B: I forgot about that place. It was still being renovated the last time I was in town. How's the food (margaritas)?
I'd still like to be able to think I predicted the future in Post #5 of this thread, if that's OK with everyone.
Hey stonedhead, really quality entertainment in Ames? Name it.
C.Y. Stevens, Hilton Colisseum, the Maintenance Shop, Fisher Theater, Veenker Golf Course, Jack Trice Stadium, the Gateway Center, et. al.
