First Wheels

Do you remember your first car? What was it? How long did it take you to wreck it? Do you remember spots around Greene County where everyone used to drive to?

I totaled 9 cars in 3 years back in the day when I was wide open. Injuries? One broken eardrum from whacking the side of my head against the driver's window during a multiple roll. Even that never would have happened if would have had my cowboy hat on.

I had a 1979 Chevy brown chevette that we used to call the "sh**vette"

I had an 8 track converter and upgraded to a cassette :) We piled so many people in that car.

We used to drive ALL OVER Greene county but mainly down Gibson road and McMann Access......any gravel road, really :)

I wrecked that car 3 times....(put it in the ditch on several snowy nights) and I remember we were on some random gravel road and I hit the turn signal so hard it broke off and we had to put it back in with a wad of bubble yum gum!

Ah, those were the days :)

A 1969 Toyota Corolla. I remember walking home from places all over Greene County. McMahon Access, Perkin's Pond, Squirrell Hollow, etc. I remember waking up at 6AM surrounded on all four sides by 7' tall corn. Shorty Tassler loved towing me out of that patch.

I had a 66 Buick Electra that I bought from my Mom. Later I sold it to another local yokel. Rick Bland, I think it was.

I remember buying that car from you after you had mothballed it. I had to pay Donny Ott to get it out of red title and then drove it for like three more years.

'64 Ford Galaxy, white with blue interior, 3-speed on the column, could hold 8 people comfortably, drove like a tank

My folks sold it Brian Coyne when I went to college and he drove it until the transmission fell out
