This is from the Raccoon River Valley Trail website:

"The Raccoon River Valley Trail has a user fee of $2 per day, or $10 for the year. All proceeds go to the Conservation Boards in Greene, Guthrie and Dallas Counties and are used for trail maintenance and improvements."

Does a $2 a day per person fee stop local residents, or anyone for that matter, from biking on the trail?

You have got to be kidding me. Do they pay someone to stand there and take your $2.00? If they do it is the most inane @#&%$ I have ever heard of. It would be even worse if they have someone patrol the trail making sure you have a current "sticker" or etc. and write you a ticket if you don't. This has Jefferson police force written all over it.

Listen to this. I have been back in the woods along the river, cutting wood for my furnace, and have been accosted by "DNR" officers looking for non-licensed deer. What do they think, that I'm going to do, drop out of a tree with a running chainsaw and kill these deer? This is just stupid as #!%$!

That sounds FRICK'N AWESOME!!! Maybe try hunting pheasants with an axe!

Me...I'm going fishing this weekend with weed-eater.

No wonder Bigfoot avoids that area.

The chainsaw method is the only way to go if you go deer hunting with a compact car...

Bigfoot does not avoid that area, Rick. As a matter of fact he is there quite often, on his way home from Wet Goods. And he drives a Lincoln Continental. I've seen him in it in Perry with his brother.

You know what I think? I think that Rick Bland is actually Rick Morain, and he has started this website to sucker everybody into some wily plot to make us all look like idiots. Think about it they have the same first name and everything.

Who is Rick Morain?

Question- Is this the real stonehead or an opportunistic imposter?

Suggestion- Rick, you guys should hire some expert to field questions submitted to JIN. He could answer questions like "Why is it Great Britain always and we can't call Perry "Great Perry"? Another one would be "What Jefferson icon bit Sheriff Riley in the A%$ on the courthouse lawn"?

Also, how do I know I'm not writing to Rick Morain?

I believe that Jefferson icon was Marilyn Heater.

I would like to comment on Bass's newest rant about the teacher thing. I couldn't agree more that these teachers are out there and need some type of monitoring. I have a daughter in 11th grade and one of her assignments included coloring pictures (with Crayolas) to be turned in for a large percentage grade. We need to stop hiring ex cheerleaders and some bigwig's wife to teach our kids. Sure, it's a comfortable place to hide them and let them feel important but it's just not right to all the rest of us parents. I know that not all you teachers fit this, but the ones that fit this know it, so quit and let the real teachers teach.
