Does anyone have any memories or good stories from past Greene County fairs? Is there anything missing or would you like to make any changes to the current fair itinerary?

I do have vague memories of the Greene county Fair but I can't talk about them because they happened in the 70's.
I see where Jefferson has decided to hold some kind of BBQ contest in July -- amazing that they refused to incorporate this idea into their annual Bell Tower festivities.
I won a lighter at the fair in 1973. It had a peace sign on it. I still have it and use it to keep my bathroom window cracked for ventilation. It has always worked well for this and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
the btf committee is a joke. its got mini committees, but is really run like the rest of town, scared to try new things. The bbq idea wouldnt be attempted at the festival for fear of not letting the carnies make their bucks form the locals.
What carnies? The only excitement at the Festival was watching Les Fister attempt to hand out Just Say No Stickers! And I pulled a tick out of my head at the fair.
I give the fair way more credit for overall entertainment. Fair has moto x races, tractor pulls, Jason Brown concert, fireworks, and beer. Kids had clean inflatable rides and water balloon fights, FREE! No carnies. BTF has a beer tent, parade, and a bunch of mobile flea market vendors. SOS, different year at the BTF.

Sounds like the fair was decent this year. That's nice to hear!
